The RDA is a 501(C)3 community based organization, organized as a Business Improvement District with the City of Oakland. Rockridge, Oakland's leading district in retail sales, is located along pedestrian-friendly College Avenue in North Oakland. Lined with trees, inviting storefronts, cafes and restaurants, the Rockridge was voted one of Money Magazine's "Best Places to Live" in their 2002 survey. The centrally located Rockridge BART station and convenient freeway access make Rockridge a desirable destination for visitors interested in award-winning restaurants as well as an eclectic assortment of independently owned retail stores, galleries, and a multitude of available services. Staffed by New City America, Inc., the RDA functions primarily on volunteer work of the business owners. Some of our current projects involve coordination with the City of Oakland to improve parking options, establishment of more benches and landscaping along College Avenue, coordination with the RCPC for the "under BART" design project, ongoing fair and event activities.
