Tree Trimming on College….

The RDA is pleased to announce that after talking about the need for tree trimming for more than a year on College Aveune, it is done! Tree trimming is now our responsibly as the City of Oakland no longer can funds this. In 2010 the RDA put out a call for bids to trim the trees and Valley Tree Service, a certified arborist company, won the competitive this bidding process. Trimming trees is a significant and valuable service that was paid for by our RDA members. The RDA has received many complaints and requests to have the trees attended to by merchants, businesses and residents.

The tree trimming will immediately impact the district positively in several ways:

• Improve the ability to clearly see street level businesses & signage
• Address broken limbs which pose a hazard to pedestrians and motorists alike
• Provide care for diseased trees
• Improve sight lines for drivers, bicyclist and pedestrians
• Stimulate healthy tree growth
• Beautify the street by having it look cared for.

The RDA is pleased to demonstrate another way in which the organization is working hard for you to make this a more attractive, safe and desirable place to work, live & shop.
