With its tree-lined streets, off-lease dog park, patios and sidewalk seating, the Rockridge District is a welcoming place for your furry friends to visit. And merchants often keep special treats behind the register and water bowls outside their doors. Here are just a few of our favorite spots:
Patio & Sidewalk Seating
The Golden Squirrel is a family-friendly pub that has a large, fairly private patio area that is ideal for comfortably hanging out with your dog for lunch, dinner, or late night bites.
Crepevine also has a large, contained patio area that is open for breakfast until late.
La Boulangerie de San Francisco is a newcomer to Rockridge, open from 7am - 6pm, offering pastries, sandwiches, coffees and teas, house-bottled beverages, and other French-inspired delights.
Market Hall has limited patio seating next to Highwire Coffee as well as a lot of sidewalk benches along the parameter of the complex. Inside the market, you'll find a deli, cheese shop, bakery, produce, and other culinary delights.
Rockridge offers more sidewalk seating than most districts. You can escape bustling College Avenue by instead finding a bench spot along Shaftner Avenue by the parking lot.
With the many trees creating ample shade, it's an ideal neighborhood for parking your dog while or you shop or sitting outside with your dog and enjoying world-class cuisine. Don't forget to "accidentally" drop a few bites.
The VIP Treatment
Cole Hardware carries all the basics for your favorite friend from food to grooming tools and toys to treats; you can also order online for convenient pickup in the shop.
Maison d'Etre's high-quality, American-made leashes, collars, and toys are designed for the eco-conscious, fashionable furry buddy.
Mr. John's Dog Grooming will pamper and primp your favorite pup and offers convenient drop-off and pick-up parking.
It's a short walk to the fenced, off-leash dog area, Hardy Park, located at 491 Hardy Street. There is also ample green grass and open space outside of the enclosed dog park, but dogs are to remain on leash outside of the fenced area.
In a short walk yesterday, we spotted Bella Vita, Atomic Garden, and Crush on Rockridge offering treats to their dog customers. Smart business; they just made life-long friends.
