Culinary and winemaking of Northern Spain

  • À Côté 5478 College Avenue Oakland, CA, 94618 United States (map)

Join À Côté as they celebrate the diverse culinary and winemaking traditions of Northern Spain, from the coastal-influenced food and wines of Northwestern Galicia, to the vibrant cuisine of the Basque Country and San Sebastián.

They’ll be offering two flights of regional wines along with four special dishes prepared by Chef Elaine. The specials will include: Housemade Chistorra with Talo (Basque pork sausage with cornflour flatbreads), Empanada Gallega de Atun, Cocido Gallego (Pork braised with potatoes, turnip greens, chorizo & garbanzos), and of course, Pintxos! All will be offered á la carte throughout the restaurant.

They’re very excited to host Alyssa Papiernik of Farm Wine Imports. Alyssa is a self-proclaimed wine nerd who has been a fixture of the Santa Cruz wine scene for over a decade. After receiving her sommelier certificate at just 21 years of age, she spent years studying, learning, traveling, and working in every aspect of the wine industry. She is now the local representative for Farm Wine Imports, bringing small production, low-intervention wines to wine shops and restaurants around the bay. Alyssa and wine director, Brian Stapleton, will be available throughout the night to share stories and talk wine with guests.
