Halloween Parade

Thank you to all the boys and ghouls who came out to the 33rd Annual Rockridge Halloween Parade!

Rockridge’s most thrilling day of the year (Sunday, October 26) offered kids of all ages tricks, treats, and tremendous fun. With over 40 Trick-or-Treating locations and merchant-hosted festivities stretching one mile of College Avenue (and adjacent streets) along with two main activity hubs at Oakland Public Library–Rockridge Branch (5366 College Ave.) and College Avenue Presbyterian Church (5951 College Ave.), it was an epic day to be a kid in Oakland.

The library, in partnership with the RCPC, hosted story time between entertainment provided by Ricky Roo Puppets (11am) and music by Asheba (12:30pm). MOCHA offered crafting tables for the kids (11am-2pm) thanks to the support of the Friends of the Rockridge Library. The parking lot and adjacent Manilla Street was closed to create more space for festivities and a picnic area where attendees could bring their takeout from Rockridge restaurants.

A family-friendly dance party was outside at College Avenue Presbyterian Church’s courtyard with DJ Danny Santos spinning Halloween classics. Kids could stay engaged with pumpkin decorating and picking out temporary tattoos.

Ben ‘N Nick’s (5612 College Ave.) passed out mini-soda floats and hosted happy hour for adults. Rockridge Market Hall (5655 College Ave.) unveiled a Market Hall-oween of Horrors with ghosts and pumpkins decorating a haunted hall on the bustling College Avenue’s sidewalk. Multiple photo booths offered fun prizes for kids and pups to win. Kelly S. Wright State Farm and other local businesses sponsored the kids’ commemorative Trick-or-Treat bags which were free and available at the two event hubs.

We can’t wait to see you next year (the Sunday before Halloween - save the date!).
