Matcha Moment
“We wanted to serve Matcha because it’s healthy, loved by so many, and incredibly versatile. You can get really creative with it—and that’s what we’re known for. We love to bring our own identity and flavor into everything we serve. Matcha gives us the perfect canvas to be artistic and expressive.”
Semy, owner of Im Moment Kaffee (5254 College Ave.), just launched a new line of Matcha lattes, and talks about what inspired adding this trendy, delicious drink to her menu. “I’ve always loved beautiful things—not just in how they taste, but how they look and feel. For us, Matcha is more than just a drink—it’s an experience. The color, the decorations, the freedom to be creative… it all inspires us. We’ve added both sweet and savory Matcha items, and we’re currently working on a spicy Matcha with an Eritrean twist—something bold, surprising, and full of character.”
We asked Semy what her favorite Matcha drink on the menu was. “I absolutely love the Mango Matcha, it’s fruity, vibrant, and refreshing. But my favorite might actually be our Eritrean-inspired Matcha, it has spice, fruit, and a personality all its own. It’s something you won’t find anywhere else.”
Semy thinks her customers will love the new additions to his already beloved cafe on the south end of Rockridge’s College Avenue. For her, Matcha represents more than caffeine. It’s clean energy, wellness, and creativity. People are becoming more intentional with what they drink, and Matcha gives you that boost without the crash. As she says, “It’s also beautiful, fun to customize, and brings a sense of ritual that people crave in their day-to-day lives."
